Argentinian exports to Indonesia recorded strong growth during 2026, consolidating the Asian country as one of the markets with the greatest potential to expand the presence of national products in Southeast Asia.
Between January and August, Argentinian sales to the Indonesian market reached USD 1.035 billion, an annual increase of 48.1%. During the same period, imports from Indonesia amounted to USD 287 million, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 748 million for Argentina.
Argentine authorities signed in July the opening of beef and dairy exports
The progress is also significant compared to the total recorded last year. Throughout 2025, Argentina exported products worth USD 1.231 billion to that destination. Thus, in just eight months of 2026, sales already amount to approximately 84% of all exports during the previous year.
Indonesia has more than 280 million inhabitants and maintains a high demand for raw materials, food, and productive inputs. Currently, a large part of the Argentinian exports is concentrated in agro-industrial products such as soybean derivatives, wheat, and corn.
However, the trade relationship has begun to incorporate new sectors for export to Southeast Asia. In July, the national government finalized the opening of the Indonesian market for Argentinian beef and the reopening for dairy products, after completing health evaluations and agreeing on requirements between SENASA and the General Directorate of Livestock Services and Animal Health of Indonesia.
The market represents a significant opportunity for both sectors. During 2025, Indonesia imported nearly USD 884 million in beef, of which USD 836 million corresponded to frozen products. India, Australia, and Brazil were its main suppliers. Meanwhile, Indonesian dairy imports reached approximately USD 1.597 billion.
A new market opens for Argentine beef
The opening occurs in a context of growth in Argentinian agricultural exports. Between January and July 2026, agro-industrial exports reached USD 32.507 billion, 15% more than during the same period in 2025, while the volume sold reached a record of 74.3 million tons. Indonesia is already among the top ten destinations for the sector.
With a large internal market and its membership in ASEAN, Indonesia appears as one of the destinations with room to deepen the diversification of Argentinian exports.
