The ultra-radical feminist was sanctioned by the Ministry of the Interior where she is an official

Compartir:

Andrea Tuana, an official of the Ministry of the Interior and director of the NGO "El Paso," was sanctioned following her controversial television statements.

Tuana, who for years has worked under the argument of defending minors in vulnerable situations, has been accused of promoting a hate speech, contempt, and unjustified grievance toward the male gender in its entirety.

Identified with a radical feminism movement, Tuana professes an extreme aversion toward males, without age distinction, ranging from young boys to the elderly.

The NGO she directs, "El Paso," has been receiving public funds for a long time, more or less consistently, financed by the taxes of Uruguayan citizens.

In addition to her role in this organization, Tuana holds a position at the Police Hospital, under the Ministry of the Interior.

Opposition to shared custody

During the debate on the Shared Custody or Co-responsibility in Parenting bill, approved to ensure that children maintain ties with both parents after separation, Tuana and other figures of radical feminism strongly opposed it.

For months, they carried out a campaign that, according to critics, was based on fallacious arguments and questionable strategies.

Among the most controversial claims, they argued that the law would expose children to "rapist fathers" after separation, a statement deemed aberrant and intended to undermine the family and emotional ties of minors.

These actions, financed in part with state resources, have been the subject of controversy.

While in a democratic society it is legitimate to question a bill, the use of falsehoods and unfounded attacks to influence public opinion is reproached.

The sanction for her statements

In February 2024, during an interview on the program Arriba Gente (Channel 10), Tuana stated that, for years, she has observed cases where "children are left at drug sales points as collateral."

According to her, this happens when there is no money to settle drug-related debts, and the minors are "recovered" once payment is made.

She also linked these situations to sexual exploitation associated with drug trafficking.

Her statements caused an immediate response. Diego Sanjurjo, an advisor on the matter, acknowledged the existence of cases where minors are involved in drug-related activities but questioned the veracity of Tuana's claims.

"No institution has data or evidence that this has ever occurred," Sanjurjo stated, emphasizing that, if true, such events should have been formally reported due to their severity.

As a result, the Ministry of the Interior, where Tuana serves as an official, imposed a mild sanction: several months of suspension with 50% of her salary.

Reaction of radical feminism

Following the sanction, various radical feminism organizations have come out in defense of Tuana, dismissing the rule of law and resorting to pressure through social networks and media.

In a democratic system, any sanction, whether accurate or not, must be reviewed by the appropriate institutional channels, not through discredit or intimidation campaigns.
