Two Moroccan illegal immigrants were arrested in Spain and Morocco following the invasion of Ceuta that occurred on July 30, after their links to ISIS (Islamic State) were revealed.

The arrests were carried out by the security forces of both countries and occurred as part of the investigations activated after the migrant invasion recorded in the city.

One of the suspects was arrested within the Autonomous City of Ceuta by agents of the General Information Commissariat (CGI) of the National Police of Spain. The second arrest took place in Morocco and was conducted by members of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

According to Spanish media, the person arrested in Moroccan territory was likely among those who returned to Morocco after the events that occurred in Ceuta.

For now, the investigations remain open and the authorities are cautious about the case, so they have not released details about the specific circumstances that led to the arrests.

The arrests occurred after the authorities activated alert systems designed to detect possible terrorist threats related to the arrival of people in the city. These mechanisms allowed for the identification of the two individuals who were subsequently arrested.

The situation has generated particular concern among security agencies due to the suspects' links to ISIS. Authorities are seeking to determine the level of activity they maintained and the circumstances in which they found themselves after the events of July.

The investigations also consider the possible presence of other illegal immigrants related to terrorism in Ceuta. There are even reports of undocumented individuals with terrorism-related backgrounds hiding in the mountains of the city after serving their sentences.

The situation is part of the concerns that authorities have as investigations progress following the migrant invasion.

In the case of the two detainees, Spanish media claim that they remained active at the time they were located, so their consolidation in Spanish territory would have posed a serious risk to national security.

The procedures carried out in Spain and Morocco are part of an ongoing investigation. For now, authorities have not provided additional information about the detainees or the specific circumstances of their alleged activities.
