The uncomfortable question Pampita asked Evangelina Anderson on Los 8 Escalones

An unexpected debate about children, the Oedipus complex, and the role of mothers-in-law surprised everyone in the studio

An unexpected moment filled with female complicity took place during a recent episode of Los 8 escalones, when Carolina "Pampita" Ardohain surprised Evangelina Anderson with a question that left her visibly uncomfortable. The topic, which arose from a prompt about the Oedipus Complex, opened the door to an intimate and relaxed conversation between the judges, which ended up sparking laughter, reflections, and a confession about motherhood that many mothers could share.

Everything began when Pampita asked a trivia question related to psychology:  "The so-called 'Oedipus Complex,' a concept in psychology, took its name from a famous Greek tragedy. True or false?" The contestant correctly answered "true," but it was Evangelina's subsequent comment that ignited the conversation.

"That Oedipus topic... Did your sons go through a love like that, excessive?" she asked the host, referring to the deep bond that children often have with their mothers at certain stages of development.

Pampita replied naturally:  "They always see me as a princess, the most beautiful. But well, I suppose at some point that ends, right?" she remarked, laughing, alluding to how mother-son relationships change over time.

Anderson, mother of three children with Martín Demichelis, added:  "If they're boys, they love you, they adore you. But after 15..." implying that this very special stage eventually fades. In the same vein, Teté Coustarot, also present on the panel, joined in playfully:  "You have to make the most of them now. Later, you have to beg them to come for Sunday lunch."

"Another princess appears in their lives", Evangelina concluded, prompting an even more intimate comment from Pampita: "I'll know how to understand when the woman of their lives arrives later," she said with a mix of humor and maternal resignation.

Amid the back-and-forth, Pampita surprised her colleague with a direct question:
"Are you a bad mother-in-law?" she asked bluntly, sparking a mix of laughter and knowing glances in the studio.

Evangelina did not avoid the question, but she took a moment to think about her answer:  "I'm right there, I'm kind of starting out with the 16-year-old. But no, I'm very good. I help him with the little gifts, with everything. I'm very good," she assured, making it clear that her role as a mother-in-law is still in the learning stage.

Meanwhile, Pampita wrapped up the conversation with a phrase that drew applause and smiles:  "I'm going to love all of them because I want them to come for Sunday lunch at home and bring me the grandchildren."
