Unbelievable: Córdoba's Peronism is promoting a Cuarteto Commission in the legislature
Córdoba's ruling party prioritizes symbolic projects while taxes, rates, and insecurity increase
The Córdoba Legislature became embroiled in controversy over the pro-government proposal to create a Special Commission for the Cuarteto Cordobés Flag. The initiative sparked strong criticism due to the contrast with the urgent problems facing the province. For the opposition, this is an example of how Córdoba's Peronism avoids debating what is essential.
An opposition legislator pointed out that citizens are suffering increases in basic services that far exceed salaries. He gave as examples that tolls have increased by 500% and water by 300% in the past year. He also highlighted insecurity as one of the main social concerns.
In this context, it was questioned that the pro-government bloc suspended a legislative session to attend a political campaign event. According to the opposition, the provincial Parliament operates according to party needs rather than citizens' demands.

The cost of commissions
The creation of new commissions also opens the discussion about public resources. Each one involves advisors, rapporteurs, and travel allowances, which represent an additional expense for provincial coffers. "These funds are managed with discretion and without transparency," criticized an opposition legislator.
For the opposition, the Cuarteto project reflects the current legislative poverty. They pointed out that, while tax pressure suffocates taxpayers, pro-government legislators prioritize symbolic initiatives. On social media, there was even irony about the Government considering these measures as "very important issues."
The criticism is that the Legislature is not fulfilling its role of discussing policies that would ease the tax burden or strengthen security. This way, the legislative branch is discredited before society, which is demanding concrete solutions.

An empty Legislature
The reduction in sessions was also pointed out as a structural problem. According to opposition legislators, the parliamentary agenda is increasingly subordinated to the pro-government electoral strategy. This limits the possibility of debating projects that address the economic and social crisis.
Critics warn that the lack of predictability erodes citizens' trust. "The opportunity to discuss laws that solve real problems is lost," said an opposition member. Among the urgent issues mentioned are the excessive increase in rates, insecurity, and tax pressure.
Finally, the opposition concluded that the Legislature has become an empty space lacking content. They pointed out that the Peronist pro-government bloc prioritizes campaign events and symbolic projects instead of the needs of Córdoba's citizens.
