The Department of Government Efficiency of the United States (DOGE, by its initials in English) rejected on Monday the false version spread by the Reuters agency that claimed the organization had ceased to exist as an active entity within the federal government.
Through its official account on X, the department described the information as "fake news" and stated that it remains in operation, with new spending cuts and updates planned for the coming days.
The response came after the publication of a Reuters article that indicated DOGE no longer existed as a centralized entity and that its functions had been absorbed by various federal agencies. The report stated that the organization had been dismantled ahead of schedule, eight months before the formal expiration of its mandate.

In response to those claims, DOGE maintained that its work continues without interruption. "As usual, this is fake news from Reuters. President Trump received the mandate from the American people to modernize the federal government and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse," the organization said in a message posted on X.
Additionally, it reported that in the past week it terminated 78 contracts considered unnecessary, which would represent savings of 335 million dollars for American taxpayers. "We'll be back in a few days with our usual Friday update," they added.
The Reuters article described an internal reconfiguration of DOGE's administrative structure and the transfer of part of its staff to other organizations. Nevertheless, according to the outlet itself, Scott Kupor, director of the Office of Personnel Management, had acknowledged that several of the principles promoted by DOGE, such as administrative efficiency and spending reduction, were being permanently incorporated into various agencies, although without a central organization to coordinate them.

Since its creation at the beginning of Donald Trump's second term, the Department of Government Efficiency has been responsible for eliminating state waste, lowering public spending, and reducing bureaucracy.
Among its most relevant actions are the cancellation of unnecessary contracts, the reduction of operating costs in rentals and services, and the review of expenses associated with federal acquisitions. The organization states that these measures aim not only to generate immediate savings but also to modernize internal processes and promote an administrative culture focused on efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
