VOX lashes out against Islamization in Spain and makes an important request to Parliament
Spain's largest right-wing party made the decision to ask parliament to declare the Islamist movement a threat to the West
The parliamentary group of Vox has presented a proposal in the Parliament of Catalonia to declare Islamism as a "political-religious movement incompatible with the West."
In the document, Vox denounces the process of Islamization as a social and cultural transformation that generates growing concern among European citizens, noting that, although Spain hasn't reached the level of radicalization of other countries like France or the United Kingdom, "worrying symptoms" of parallel communities with norms foreign to Spanish culture are beginning to appear, facilitating the expansion of radicalism.
Vox's proposal includes several key measures. One of them is to prosecute Islamist hate speech against women, Christians, and other communities.

It also requests a plan to identify neighborhoods in Catalonia that could become "no-go zones," where civil laws are displaced by community norms.
Additionally, Vox proposes the elimination of subsidies to NGOs and associations linked to Islamism or that maintain relations with countries promoting Sharia. They also call for the creation of a comprehensive plan against jihadism in Catalonia.
The parliamentary group highlights the growing Muslim presence in Spain, citing the 2023 study by the Union of Islamic Communities, which indicates that more than 2,412,000 Muslims reside in Spain, which equates to 5% of the population, and in Catalonia, the figure exceeds 660,000, which represents double that of other communities like Madrid, Andalusia, or the Valencian Community.
Another alarming fact for Vox is the increase in the number of mosques in recent years, which have doubled, reaching more than 280 in Catalonia. According to police sources, "one in three Catalan mosques spreads radical ideas linked to Salafism," raising concerns about the creation of closed social contexts that promote values incompatible with the principles of equality, freedom, and integration.

Vox also highlights a 20% increase in forced marriages in Catalonia in just one year, as well as the imposition of the Islamic veil on women within some communities, which they consider a practice incompatible with Western values.
Additionally, they mention the relationship between Islamization and jihadist radicalism, citing recent cases of deportations of imams in La Jonquera and Figueres, and a hairdresser in Mataró, all of them involved in the dissemination of Salafism and the creation of jihadist networks.
In their proposal, Vox calls for urgent measures to protect the cultural identity of Catalonia and ensure that the Muslim population fully accepts Western values, such as gender equality, immigrant integration, and strict compliance with civil laws.

Specifically, they request that the Parliament of Catalonia declare Islamism as a "political-religious movement incompatible with the West" and the principles of freedom, equality, and democracy.
Finally, the parliamentary group of Vox urges the Parliament to address these concerns in the Committee on Interior and Public Safety, to ensure that effective policies are adopted to prevent the expansion of radicalism and protect the essential principles of Catalan society.
