After several days with more pleasant temperatures, reaching up to 24ºC, Córdoba is preparing for the return of fully winter conditions.
Forecasts anticipate that, starting next week, a new influx of polar air will cause a marked drop in temperatures and the return of frosts in much of the provincial territory, especially in the productive areas.
The slight rise in temperatures recorded over the past few days created a pause within winter, with more comfortable highs that provided relief to both the population and the agricultural sector. However, that scenario will be temporary.
Meteorological models predict the arrival of a cold air mass that will re-establish intense winter conditions, with lows close to or below 0°C in various regions of Córdoba. Frosts will again take center stage, mainly in the south, southeast, and central areas of the province, where the lowest temperature values are usually recorded.
It could even snow in the mountains.
The climate of Córdoba and its impact on agriculture
For agricultural activity, the return of extreme cold represents a factor to watch closely. Frosts are part of the usual behavior of the season and, in many cases, contribute to the development of winter crops and the natural control of some pests. However, their intensity and persistence can affect more sensitive productions and force producers to continuously monitor the evolution of the weather.
Experts recommend paying special attention to updates on forecasts in the coming days, as small variations in the intensity of the polar air influx can alter the magnitude of the minimum temperatures and the extent of the frosts.
The harshest winter returns to Córdoba
The new cold episode confirms the high variability that the Córdoba winter has been showing, with periods of thermal recovery followed by rapid polar incursions.
In this way, the "little summer" of mid-winter will come to an end, and mornings with sub-zero temperatures, frost, and typical conditions of the season will return, both in the cities and in the main agricultural regions of the province.
