Summer hasn't started yet and Córdoba has already begun to experience intense heat waves.

The temperature this Tuesday rose to 35°C (95°F). However, records are expected to be extreme during December, January, February, and March.

For this reason, authorities have started to issue a series of alerts so that the population becomes aware of the seriousness of the situation.

In February of this year, Córdoba recorded 42°C (107.6°F), the highest temperature, and in the 2022–2023 summer, it accumulated 21 days under heat wave conditions, the longest duration in the historical series.

These trends are combined with nights that do not drop below 19.5°C (67.1°F), which prevents thermal recovery and increases health risks.

The official assessment states that urban temperatures are showing a systematic increase, with longer summers and more persistent tropical nights.

In the last decade, the city has tripled the frequency of heat waves and has experienced increasingly severe episodes.

"We are facing the need to address heat waves. It is a serious problem for the population's health, with potentially lethal consequences," said the Secretary of Environment and Circular Economy of the Municipality of Córdoba, Gabriel Martín.
