Coudet's team lost 1-0 in Victoria and has lost all four matches played at the start of the championship without scoring goals, something not seen since the Amateur era
River cannot find its way and its football crisis is already marked in the club's history books. The team led by Eduardo Coudetlost 1-0 to Tigre in Victoria, adding its sixth consecutive defeat in AFA tournaments and deepening a terrible start to the Clausura Tournament, in which it has still not managed to score or earn points.
The only goal of the match came at 33 minutes into the second half, when Ignacio Russo scored over Santiago Beltrán to give the home team the victory. The result left the Millonario as last in Zone B and as the only team in the championship that has lost all four of its matches.
River recorded its sixth consecutive defeat
The defeat against Tigre also confirmed an unprecedented record for River in the First Division: it had never before lost the first four matches of a tournament in the Professionalism era. The losses to Barracas Central, Gimnasia, and Rosario Central were now joined by the one in Victoria, all by 1-0.
The oldest precedent of a similar situation dates back to 1906, when the Núñez club lost its first seven matches in the Second Division. However, on that occasion, it managed to score goals, so the current start, with four defeats and no goals scored, constitutes a unprecedented event.
The negative streak transcends the Clausura. Since the defeat against Belgrano in the final of the Apertura Tournament, River has also lost to Aldosivi in the Argentine Cup and then suffered defeats against Barracas Central, Gimnasia, Rosario Central, and Tigre. There are six consecutive matches without victories in competitions organized by AFA, a record that had not been seen since the historic streak of 13 defeats between 1905 and 1906.

Furthermore, the defeat in Victoria extended the number of consecutive losses to five across all competitions within the same semester, something that had not happened since 1982. On that occasion, River lost to Flamengo, Newell's, Peñarol, Argentinos Juniors, and again Flamengo, before breaking the streak with a 3-0 thrashing of Racing.
Now, Coudet's team will have the opportunity to stop the decline in an international setting. This Wednesday, it will visit Independiente Santa Fe in Colombia for the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana, before hosting Argentinos Juniors for the fifth round of the Clausura.
