It all began with information suggesting that the government of Donald Trump is considering reconsidering its stance on the Falkland Islands as a pressure mechanism on British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to increase military spending.

In response to that news, Yair Netanyahu published a strong statement regarding the sovereignty of the archipelago. “The Falkland Islands belong to Argentina!,” he wrote.
In this context, the son of the Israeli Prime Minister stated that his intervention could have had a positive effect on the relationship between Argentina and Israel.
“I probably did contribute to Israel-Argentina relations with my tweet about the Falkland Islands, in contrast to the left's propaganda… Basic rule in diplomacy: support your friends, and not those who are hostile to you… That is indeed a rule that is hard for the left to accept,” he wrote.
The message did not go unnoticed. The tweet quickly went viral and sparked a strong controversy in the United Kingdom, where numerous British users began to criticize Yair Netanyahu's statements.
In light of those criticisms, Yair made it clear that, for him, the main objective of his message was related to British policy towards Israel.

“The point was not the Falkland Islands, but the hypocrisy and British hostility towards Israel with their recognition of 'Palestine' in the middle of our land and capital city! Or their interference in where Israel should or should not build homes on the outskirts of Jerusalem!,” he explained.
In another message specifically directed at the British, he revisited the issue of the Falklands and compared the reaction generated by his statement to what the UK's position on various territories and issues related to Israel, such as the recognition of a "Palestinian" state, represents for Israelis.
“Dear British, were you offended by my comment about the Falkland Islands — a handful of rocks 8,000 miles from your shores? Good. Now imagine how we, the Israelis, feel about your government's recognition of 'Palestine' over our ancestral heartland of Judea and Samaria, your denial of our sovereignty over our capital, Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights, and your constant interference in our internal affairs and attacks on our country,” stated the Prime Minister's son.

Yair Netanyahu continued his extensive message referencing the Israeli response to the October 7 terrorist attack and questioned British criticisms of Israel. He also compared British military actions during World War II and in Afghanistan and Iraq with the casualties produced in Gaza.
“Since the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust on October 7, we have experienced nothing but hostility, anti-Semitism, and blood libels from your government. An alliance works both ways,” he expressed.
Finally, he reminded the British of what is happening in their country due to the massive influx of illegal Muslim immigrants: "Your country is being occupied by radical Islam! Mind your own business!.”
