The CNE confirmed the runoff between Daniel Noboa and Luisa González

The runoff will be on April 13, with Noboa and González vying for the Presidency

The National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed the definitive results of the presidential elections, confirming that Daniel Noboa and Luisa González will contest the second round next April 13. The difference between both candidates is 16,746 votes, marking a close and decisive contest for the country's future.

Noboa, representative of the National Democratic Action (ADN) movement, reached 44.17% of the votes, which is equivalent to 4′527,606 votes. Meanwhile, González, backed by the correísta alliance Citizen Revolution (RC) and Total Renewal (RETO), obtained 44%, with 4′510,860 votes.

The electoral process advanced as planned by the Code of Democracy, and the Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE) certified that there are no pending administrative resources, which consolidated the validity of the scrutiny. Additionally, the corresponding seats were awarded to the overseas constituencies, where both political movements achieved representation.

Looking ahead to the runoff, the CNE has 30 days to fine-tune the details of the presidential debate, scheduled for March 23. This event is key for the candidates to present their proposals around the five thematic axes that will be defined by the National Debate Committee.

Meanwhile, parties are expected to structure their campaigns, whose official period begins on March 24 and ends on April 10. Likewise, the Electoral Promotion Fund will be established, determining the limits for propaganda expenses and private donations.

According to CNE reports, in the first round, an amount of $13′979,762 was allocated for electoral promotion, of which 96.4% was used, highlighting the investment in traditional media such as radio and billboards.

With the definitive results proclaimed and the deadlines set for the debate and campaign, Ecuador prepares for a crucial second electoral round. While Daniel Noboa emerges as the option for democratic renewal, Luisa González seeks to consolidate the support of sectors aligned with correísmo. The final decision is in the hands of the voters, who will define the country's direction next April 13.
