California authorities arrested a man who allegedly was monitoring security preparations at the ''Trump National Golf Club'' in Rancho Palos Verdes, just days before a visit from President Donald Trump. The suspect was detained after federal agents observed him taking photographs and videos inside the premises while apparently monitoring the security measures deployed for the presidential visit.

Jeanine John Taele, 38, a resident of Downey, was arrested on Sunday after federal agents in plain clothes detected his behavior at the golf course. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Taele appeared to be observing activities related to security planning.

The intervention of authorities quickly identified the situation and activated an investigation that subsequently led to the discovery of a significant arsenal at the suspect's home.

Deputies from the Lomita sheriff's station arrived at the scene around 3:30 PM. During the investigation, they determined that Taele was already being investigated by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a theft case.

During a precautionary search, officers found in the suspect's pocket a magazine capable of holding 16 rounds that contained hollow-point ammunition. Authorities then searched his vehicle, parked within the golf club premises, and found a loaded handgun with one round in the chamber, as well as another magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition.

Taele was initially detained on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.

The quantity and nature of the material found led detectives from the Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau, assigned to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, to request a search warrant to search the suspect's home in Downey.

The search of the property revealed a collection of weapons and equipment that increased investigators' concerns. According to authorities, they found an illegally modified AR platform rifle, a .45 caliber 1911 handgun, an upper receiver for an AR platform weapon, bulletproof vests, high-capacity magazines, and large quantities of ammunition for handguns and rifles.

Investigators also recovered two devices capable of emitting radio signals and several notebooks containing what authorities described as ''concerning statements''.

The investigation is being jointly conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the United States Secret Service. The involvement of these agencies reflects the level of caution taken to ensure the safety of the president and those participating in his public activities.

The case gained special relevance because Taele was located inside a facility linked to President Donald Trump while apparently observing the security preparations made before his visit. Although authorities have not established that the suspect had a concrete plan to attack the president, his behavior and the subsequent discovery of weapons prompted a thorough investigation.

On Tuesday, investigators presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to determine the additional charges that may apply. Taele remains in custody as the investigation progresses.
