JD Vance paid tribute to his friend Charlie Kirk in his speech this Thursday night at the Midterm Republican Convention. The vice president recalled that the last time he spoke at a Republican Party convention, he did so alongside the conservative leader, murdered exactly a year ago by a leftist terrorist.
"I was nervous, think about it. I was speaking on the biggest stage of my life. I had only been in politics for a year and a half. But I will never forget that while I was giving that speech, while I was talking to the country on the biggest stage of my life, in the front row, right over there," he said, pointing to a spot in the audience, "my dear friend Charlie Kirk was smiling and applauding me, reminding me that I had a good friend right here in the convention hall".
Then, the second-in-command focused his attention on Kirk's two sons. "But those sweet boys, I can't imagine they are watching tonight, they are still very young. But I hope that one day they look back, know, and understand what I am trying to tell them tonight. Although they may not appreciate it today, history will record that their father was a great man," he expressed amid applause from the audience.
In another part of his speech, Vance tore into the Democratic Senate candidate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, after the radical Muslim suggested that Vance's grandfather (“Papaw”) would not have welcomed the vice president's wife, Usha Vance, for not being white.
"Abdul El-Sayed saw me describing how decent my grandfather was. And do you know what Abdul did? He mockingly asked if I would take Usha with me 'in time to meet Papaw'. That's what he thinks of my grandfather: a man I loved, and who loved his family unconditionally", the Trump running mate stated emphatically.
