President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that the United States will respond militarily after the terrorist regime of Iran violated the ceasefire and shot down an Apache helicopter of the U.S. Army patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.

"I have just been informed by our Great Army that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz," Trump indicated in a post on Truth Social. "There were two pilots involved, both are safe and unharmed," he added. "However, the United States must, out of necessity, respond to this attack," the president announced.

This morning, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announced that a U.S. AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed on Monday night near the coast of Oman. The Command did not initially assign blame for the aircraft's crash and stated that the circumstances were still under investigation.

"On June 8, two crew members of a U.S. AH-64 Apache were rescued by U.S. forces after their helicopter crashed near the coast of Oman while patrolling regional waters," the military body reported. "The soldiers were safely rescued in approximately two hours and are in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation."

The drums of war are sounding again in the region

Overall, Trump's message -and his promise of retaliation against the Islamic regime- was the first public statement issued by a U.S. official claiming that Iran was responsible for the loss of the helicopter.

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime passages in the world through which a significant portion of the world's oil shipments transit, has become the scene of a war in Iran that began in late February and has been under a fragile truce for more than two months.

On Sunday, the terrorist regime governing the Middle Eastern country attacked Israel by launching a barrage of missiles that were intercepted by the Jewish state's air defense system, in a desperate move by Tehran to defend the last remnants of the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
