The labor data from the United States published this Friday showed that the Trump economy created three times more jobs than economists expected for August. Additionally, the figures for June and July were also revised upwards.
In this context, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 162,000 jobs were added in August and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at a low 4.1%. Furthermore, the total number of jobs added in June was revised upwards from 20,000 to 31,000, while July saw an increase of 44,000, resulting in a net job gain of 21,000 compared to the initial loss of 23,000 reported.
It is noteworthy that economists had forecasted an increase of 53,000 jobs for August, so the announced figure of 162,000 tripled the estimate. The strong performance in August is attributed to a rebound in the manufacturing sector. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate rose by 0.2% in August, reaching 61.6%.
