Some media outlets claim that Hamas would hand them over today if Israel releases more dangerous terrorists

Israel is on high alert ahead of the possible release this Sunday of the 20 Israeli hostages still alive in Hamas's hands, in a move that could take place earlier than the original deadline set for Monday.

According to some media outlets, the terrorist group would be willing to move up the handover if Israel agrees to release at least two of the seven high-profile Palestinian prisoners it demands as a condition.

Palestinian sources state that Hamas has already begun gathering the hostages in a single location, in preparation for their transfer to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a process that could begin around 6 a.m.

However, both the location and the exact logistics of the operation remain confidential.

"The State of Israel is prepared and ready for the immediate reception of all our hostages," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement released this Sunday.

The assessment of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is similar: although there have been no significant changes in the operational landscape, the army keeps all protocols activated and ready for an immediate transfer.

A security official explained that, according to previous experiences, Hamas tends to concentrate the hostages in a single location in the days prior to their release. "We assume that's what they did during the last 24 hours," he noted.

The main point of friction remains the list of Palestinian prisoners to be released within the first phase of the ceasefire agreement promoted by the United States.

Hamas insists on including seven leaders convicted of attacks with multiple victims, among them Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Saadat. Israel, meanwhile, has systematically refused to include figures responsible for mass attacks, although according to the BBC, mediators are trying to reach a compromise that would allow at least two of the proposed names to be released.

As talks continue, an official Israeli source told Kan channel that the IDF estimates that "the hostages will be back in Israel before President Donald Trump's arrival", scheduled for Monday at 9:20 a.m.

The release of the hostages would mark a crucial milestone within the peace plan announced by Washington, which calls for a gradual ceasefire and the return of all hostages, both alive and deceased, in successive stages.

In Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the families of the captives are following the news with cautious optimism, while the government emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the return of every Israeli citizen.

"We won't rest until everyone is back home," Netanyahu reiterated, in a message that reflects both the country's determination and the renewed hope of a nation that has been waiting for this moment for more than two years.
