The combination of drought and pollution has severely affected the quality of life in Nuevo León.

The water shortage has limited daily and productive activities, while air and soil pollution has increased health risks, especially in communities near industrial areas.

Environmental crisis and its health implications

Besides the concern for whooping cough, Nuevo León faces a significant environmental crisis. On January 23, 2025, the Monterrey Metropolitan Area once again raised alarms over air quality, becoming one of the most polluted regions in the country.

Air pollution, especially from PM2.5 particles, represents an invisible threat affecting the health of residents, increasing vulnerability to respiratory diseases.

This situation worsens the health outlook, especially for the youngest and people with compromised immune systems.

Call to action and citizen responsibility

In this scenario, it is crucial for the population to heed the recommendations of health and environmental authorities. Timely vaccination and environmental care are essential to protect everyone's health.

Regarding industrial pollution, following investigations that revealed the improper handling of hazardous waste

which led the corresponding authorities to order the cleanup of a plant in Monterrey and shut down unauthorized equipment.

30,000 tons of improperly stored hazardous materials were found, leading to legal actions and the demand for corrective measures by the company involved.

The current situation serves as a wake-up call on the importance of shared responsibility in protecting the environment and public health.
