Discovery of 72 bodies in clandestine graves in Chihuahua shakes the country

Authorities discover dozens of graves in Casas Grandes, revealing the magnitude of the disappearance crisis

The state of Chihuahua is once again the epicenter of the forced disappearances crisis in Mexico. 72 bodies were found in clandestine graves in the town of Casas Grandes, in a case that has shocked the nation and highlighted the level of violence in the region.

The discovery was made possible thanks to information provided by an alleged detained criminal, who revealed the location of a plot known as "El Willy". During the inspection, authorities found 38 clandestine graves that concealed the remains of these victims.

Advances in the identification of bodies

The State Prosecutor's Office reported that many of the bodies had been buried for years, which has made their identification difficult due to the advanced state of decomposition.

The remains were transferred to forensic laboratories in Ciudad Juárez, where genetic tests will be conducted to restore their identity and provide answers to their families.

A crisis that doesn't cease

This macabre finding is not an isolated case, but a reflection of the deep violence crisis affecting Chihuahua and Mexico as a whole.

Currently, more than 4,000 people are reported missing in Chihuahua, of which 1,000 are from Ciudad Juárez alone, one of the most violent cities in the world.

A humanitarian crisis in Mexico

Mexico is facing an unprecedented crisis. According to official figures, more than 110,000 people are missing. Between 2007 and 2024, 5,698 clandestine graves have been identified, reflecting the high level of impunity with which criminal groups operate.

Human rights organizations warn that these findings could be just the tip of the iceberg, as there are multiple extermination sites yet to be discovered.

Demands for justice and security

Relatives of the disappeared have raised their voices, demanding from the authorities a greater commitment to the identification of bodies and the implementation of effective strategies to prevent more disappearances.

The climate of insecurity and fear continues to affect the population, where the disappearance of people has become a daily reality.

Search operations continue

Search efforts continue in the Casas Grandes area with the hope of finding more bodies and providing some peace to the families still waiting for answers.

The fight for truth and justice doesn't stop, but the magnitude of this crisis remains overwhelming.
