Panic in public transportation: users report 'stings' in Metro and Metrobus

Nine people have been attacked with sharp objects during the journey; the FGJ investigates without results

Nine people —seven women and two menreported being attacked with sharp objects on public transportation. The incidents occurred in the Metro and Metrobús of Mexico City, causing panic among users.

The Attorney General's Office initiated an investigation, but so far there are no arrests or defined motives. The only evident thing is the silence of the authorities and a city that moves again with fear, as has happened on other occasions without consequences.

A pattern without answers

The attacks were recorded between March 14 and April 19, at different times and stations, with no apparent connection between the victims. The affected describe a sudden prick, after which confusion and fear begin.

Young women, routine journeys, crowded spaces. The toxicological tests conducted did not detect any foreign substances. Nor have the cases been linked to kidnapping attempts, which increases the uncertainty.

The FGJ and the Citizen Security Secretariat are analyzing videos and collecting evidence with experts, but without progress or clear lines of investigation. The cameras are there; the guarantees are not.

A city where fear travels for free

The government's response has been mechanical: if a prick is felt, activate the emergency lever or go to the security personnel. There has been no talk of reinforcing surveillance, nor of effective police presence during peak hours. Much less of establishing real protocols in the face of anonymous attacks.

Meanwhile, the officialdom boasts of well-being, daily transportation becomes a roulette of fear.

Original phrase too long: "When an attack can occur in full transport without anyone acting, it is not just a failure of cameras or surveillance: it is the collapse of an entire security model."
Suggested version: "An attack in full transport without response not only evidences surveillance failures: it reveals the total collapse of the security model."

The city adapts to fear, while the government remains indifferent, traveling in first class and shielded from everyday risk.

From the official discourse, the word "well-being" is repeated as if it were a spell. Reforms and works are announced, but real life —that of the Metro and Metrobús— continues to be marked by uncertainty.

The citizens resign themselves and assume their own defense, while the supposed national transformation doesn't reach the platforms.

The victims carry the trauma and silence. The officials responsible for the discourse travel protected, far from the crowd and any consequence.
