007 First Light: the new James Bond video game already has a release date
IO Interactive announced that the title will be released on March 27, 2026, and will feature Patrick Gibson as a young Bond
The wait is over: IO Interactive has confirmed that the new video game featuring the world's most famous secret agent, 007 First Light, will be released on March 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The production promises a fresh take on the British spy's origin, with Irish actor Patrick Gibson in the leading role.
The announcement has caused great anticipation among fans and the industry, as this will be the first time James Bond is portrayed as an inexperienced agent within an original narrative, independent from the films.
A new perspective on James Bond's origin
Unlike previous titles that relied on cinematic versions, 007 First Light is committed to an original story within the Bond universe. The story explores the young agent's first steps in MI6, after being recruited following a heroic act in the navy.
The plot places Bond on a mission that quickly becomes a greater challenge, forcing him to work alongside his mentor Greenway to stop a conspiracy that threatens a coup d'état.

Patrick Gibson, known for his role in Dexter: Original Sin, will bring to life a more human James Bond, vulnerable and in the midst of his transformation into the sophisticated spy the public knows.
Confirmed cast and characters
The cast includes Lennie James as Greenway, Bond's reluctant mentor; Priyanga Burford as M; Alastair Mackenzie as Q, the genius behind the gadgets; Kiera Lester as Moneypenny; and Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth, co-star of one of the game's most intense action scenes.
The choice of lesser-known actors reinforces the studio's commitment to a different and fresh interpretation of the saga.
Gameplay and new features

Gameplay will be one of the most attractive aspects of 007 First Light. Players will be able to complete missions using stealth, direct action, innovative gadgets, and hand-to-hand combat, with complete freedom of choice to solve each scenario.
IO Interactive, known for their experience with the Hitman saga, promises a flexible experience that combines cinematic action with infiltration mechanics.
Industry and fan expectations
The project, in development since 2020, represents a major bet by IO Interactive to position itself as a leader in adaptations of iconic franchises. The studio is confident that the mix of original narrative, a new cast, and gameplay freedom will attract both James Bond fans and new audiences.
With a global release scheduled for March 2026, 007 First Light could mark the beginning of a new video game saga inspired by the universe of agent 007.
