Amazon confirms the creator of 'Peaky Blinders' as the screenwriter for the new James Bond
Steven Knight will be the screenwriter for the new James Bond, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve
Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, has been confirmed as the screenwriter for the new James Bond film.
The production will be handled by Amazon MGM Studios and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who was responsible for Dune and Arrival.

A heavyweight duo to relaunch 007
The new installment of James Bond, number 26, already has a top-tier creative team. Denis Villeneuve will be in charge of directing, while the script will be written by the renowned Steven Knight.
The project will be produced by Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and David Heyman (Harry Potter, Barbie), with Tanya Lapointe as executive producer.
When will the new James Bond premiere?
The film is aiming for a 2028 release, a timeline that the studios consider realistic given the scale of the project.

The casting to select the new actor who will portray agent 007 is still open and will be crucial in the coming months.
Who is Steven Knight?
Steven Knight is one of the most renowned screenwriters in the United Kingdom. He gained worldwide recognition with Peaky Blinders, a series he also produced and which starred Cillian Murphy.

He also worked on titles such as See (Apple TV+), SAS: Rogue Heroes (BBC), The Veil (FX), and All the Light We Cannot See (Netflix).
His film career
He was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay of Dirty Pretty Things and wrote films such as Eastern Promises, Spencer, and Serenity.
He also directed films like Locke and Hummingbird, and is preparing a Peaky Blinders movie for Netflix.

Amazon takes full control of James Bond
Since acquiring MGM in 2021, Amazon has had full control of the franchise. Last March, Amazon replaced longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, guardians of Ian Fleming's legacy.
With Villeneuve at the helm and Knight writing, the franchise is aiming for a more mature, stylized, and narrative-driven tone for the new era of agent 007.
