Argentine motorsport experienced a historic day on the streets of Buenos Aires this Sunday. Franco Colapinto headlined a massive Road Show that brought together more than 600,000 people in Palermo and set a record of assistance for these types of events.
The Alpine driver was the main protagonist of an exhibition that returned a Formula 1 car to the country after 14 years. Throughout the day, he drove a 2012 Lotus E20 plotted in the colors of the French team and also the historic “Silver Arrow”, the Mercedes-Benz W196 with which Juan Manuel Fangio became champion in 1954 and 1955.

The magnitude of the call not only surpassed the previous record for urban exhibitions, set in London in 2004 with 500 thousand people and figures such as Jenson Button, Nigel Mansell, David Coulthard and Juan Pablo Montoya, but it also left behind a historic milestone in the category: the 1995 Australian Grand Prix, which had
attracted 520,000 spectators over an entire weekend.During the day, Colapinto performed demanding maneuvers, accelerations and the classic spinning tops that made the audience vibrate. In the closing, he executed “donuts” in front of the team's box until the car showed a fire, quickly controlled by the mechanics
.
Then, the pilot descended with an Argentine flag and sparked an ovation from those present. He also crossed the fence and toured part of the circuit on foot to greet the fans, in a gesture that reinforced the festive atmosphere of the event
.After the exhibition, Colapinto himself expressed his emotion on his social networks: “One of the best days of my life driving an F1 at home was something epic that I will never forget!!!! This party belongs to all of you thanks for making it possible and for making us spend such a special day!!!!!!! ”. For their part, the team also highlighted the magnitude of the event: "600,000 people cheering on Franco on the streets of Buenos Aires... Total thanks”.

With an unprecedented call, the Road Show not only broke records, but also reaffirmed that Formula 1, led today by Colapinto, continues to awaken passion in Argentina
.When does Colapinto return to racing
