After several weeks of uncertainty and two hospitalizations, Denisse González, former participant of Big Brother revealed what illness she was diagnosed with. The young woman had shared various moments of her treatment through her social media, although until now she had not publicly explained what caused the severe decrease in her platelets.
Invited to La Mañana con Moria (eltrece), González shared that she was diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a condition that can cause very low platelet levels and increase the risk of bleeding.
“It’s a very particular disease, but from what I understand, it happens to many people. My disease is called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. My case is idiopathic because the cause that triggered it is unknown,” she explained.
During the interview, the former Big Brother contestant detailed how the condition manifested in her body and recalled one of the most concerning moments she experienced during her hospitalizations.
Platelets are components of blood that play a role in coagulation and are essential for controlling bleeding. Denisse explained that while normal values are approximately between 150,000 and 450,000 platelets per microliter of blood, in her case, she recorded only 1000.
