Argentina arrives at the lunar mission with its own technology and key participation of VENG.

Compartir:

Argentina achieved what no other country in the region achieved. The ATENEA satellite will be the only Latin American development that will participate in NASA's Artemis II mission

.

This is a historic milestone that places the country at the forefront of space exploration.

ATENEA: the Argentine satellite that reaches the lunar orbit

The satellite was developed in the country and selected from proposals from more than 50 countries

.

ATENEA is a 12-unit (12U) CubeSat, designed to operate beyond Earth orbit and validate key technology for future space missions.

It will be deployed during Artemis II, the first manned flight to lunar orbit since the Apollo program.

An Argentinian achievement with its own name: VENG was the protagonist

.

Although many media omit it it, there is a key actor behind the project

: VENG.

The private company with state participation played a central role in:

  • The manufacture of cabling The integration of

  • systems The

  • technical support at the Teófilo Tabanera Space Center

Without VENG, the development of the

satellite would not have been possible.

A 100% Argentinian development with scientific collaboration

The project was promoted by the National Commission for Space Activities together with universities and institutes

in the country.

Participants:

  • National University of San Martín

  • University of Buenos Aires

  • National University of La Plata

  • National Atomic Energy Commission

  • Argentine Institute of Radio Astronomy

The joint made it possible to develop world-class technology in record time

.

Cutting-edge technology made in Argentina

ATENEA measures:

  • 30 x 20 x 20 cm

  • It weighs 15 kilos

Includes:

  • Advanced radiation sensors

  • Locally developed GNSS receiver

  • High-efficiency solar panels These systems will allow the collection of

key data in deep space

.

What the Argentine satellite will do in the mission

The main objective is to validate critical technologies

.

Among its functions:

  • Measure radiation in deep orbits

  • Evaluate long-range communications

  • Test advanced optical sensors

  • Analyze satellite navigation outside low orbit

This will be key for future

manned missions.

Argentina joins the space elite

ATENEA doesn't just represent a

technological breakthrough.

It also positions Argentina among a small group of countries capable of participating in lunar missions.

It will share operation with developments from:

  • Germany

  • South Korea

  • Saudi Arabia

A strategic step for the future The

project strengthens the value chain of the Argentine space sector

.

In addition, it opens up opportunities in:

  • Scientific training

  • Technological development

  • International cooperation
