The president said that Tehran disseminates fake AI-generated videos to simulate attacks against the U.S.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, accused the Iranian regime of using artificial intelligence to manufacture false images and stories about alleged attacks against US forces, in the context of the growing military tension between Washington and the theocratic regime.
Through an extensive message posted on social networks, Trump argued that Iran is historically a “master of media manipulation” and stated that now the regime would be using artificial intelligence tools to spread propaganda aimed at exaggerating its weak military capacity.
The original message issued by Trump.
According to the president, the Iranian regime has released false images and videos showing alleged “kamikaze ships” attacking ships at sea, as well as images of burning ships and buildings that, he said, do not correspond to real
events.
Trump also questioned media reports that several U.S. refueling planes had been shot down or seriously damaged. As he explained, these versions would be incorrect and all the planes are still in service, with the exception of one unit that would be being repaired and would return to
operation soon.
In his message, he also mentioned an example of disinformation: images that were circulating showing the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln engulfed in flames in the middle of the ocean. Trump assured that not only was the ship not on fire, but that it had not been attacked either
.
The president also accused part of the American press ofamplifying these narratives. According to him, some media have deliberately disseminated incorrect information generated by artificial intelligence, helping to spread propaganda that would
benefit Iran. Trump is moving with determination against the nuclear and terrorist threat.
In this context, Trump expressed support for regulatory authorities to review the licenses of certain media that systematically disseminate false information seeking to terrorize the population. He also pointed out that the low credibility faced by traditional media is related to the dissemination of stories that later prove
to be incorrect.
The statements come in a context of strong political and media confrontation in the United States, where the debate on disinformation, the use of artificial intelligence and the role of traditional media in the conflict has become increasingly intense.
