The Federal Chamber of Buenos Aires confirmed this Thursday the indictment of national deputy from Unión por la Patria Juan Grabois for his participation in the occupation of the Juan Domingo Perón Institute, which occurred on June 7, 2025, and upheld the seizure of $5 million placed on his assets.
The decision was made by Chamber I of the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court, composed of judges Mariano Llorens, Pablo Bertuzzi, and Pablo Yadarola, who rejected the appeal presented by the leader's defense and confirmed what was decided in the first instance by federal judge Sebastián Ramos.
Grabois was prosecuted and seized for the violent takeover of the Perón Institute
The case investigates the entry into the property located at Austria 2593/2601, in the City of Buenos Aires, where the Juan Domingo Perón Institute had operated until its closure by Decree 346/25. The court highlighted that Grabois had disseminated a call through his X and Instagram accounts a day before the incidents to attend the building under the slogan of defending the Institute and the bar "Un café con Perón".
The judges considered that the police testimonies and the audiovisual records included in the file allowed placing the leader at the scene and at the forefront of the group that entered the state property. Furthermore, the resolution noted that during the events, damages occurred and that the protesters remained in the building despite orders from the authorities to leave the place.
One of the arguments presented by the defense pointed out that Grabois had been held responsible due to his political and public status. However, the Chamber rejected that interpretation and maintained that the accusation is based on the behaviors attributed to him during the events.
Grabois at the takeover of the institute
The decision reaffirms the indictment that Ramos had issued at the end of June, when he also ordered the seizure of $5 million. At that time, the judge considered it proven, with the degree of probability required for that procedural stage, that Grabois had entered the property without authorization and remained there despite the orders to vacate it.
The Chamber also confirmed the indictment of Valentín Peralta, another participant in the occupation, and maintained a seizure of $1 million on his assets. The legal qualification of the events remains provisional and may be discussed in the upcoming stages of the file.
