The Government announced that the Toachi Pilatón hydroelectric plant will reach full operation in January 2025. It will be after the synchronization of the first turbine at the Alluriquín power plant begins on December 16. With this first unit in operation, the national interconnected system will receive 68 megawatts
of power.
The Minister in charge of Energy, Inés Manzano, explained that the other two turbines, initially planned to start operating in February. In addition, they will be operational at the end of December and January

This will allow the complex to contribute a total of 254.4 megawatts
to the country's electrical system.
The Russian contractor company Tyazhmash, in charge of the work, has accelerated work to meet deadlines. Azat Satikov, manager of Tyazhmash, said that the technicians have been working tirelessly for more than 25 days to meet the
goal. The Toachi Pilatón Hydroelectric Plant will be 100% operational in January 2025
The project, which has been under construction for more than 14 years, has involved an investment of close to USD 1 billion. The plant, located on the western slope of the country, will complement others such as Coca Codo Sinclair, especially when the latter
has a low flow rate.
With the completion of this project, the Government reaffirms its commitment to the country's energy reactivation and the diversification of the electricity matrix.
