A few hours before its start, the Super Classic between River and Boca adds a special condiment: Juan Román Riquelme could say he was present at the Monumental to accompany the Xeneize delegation in the match corresponding to the 15th date of the Apertura Tournament.

The decision would mark a change compared to the last crossing in Núñez, in April 2025, when the team then led by Marcelo Gallardo won 2-1 and the current president of Boca chose to follow the game from another place. This time, however, he chose to be part of the entourage in a scenario that was always hostile to the leaders of the visiting club.

Beyond this change in position, this would not be his first time at the Estadio Monumental stadium since taking office as leader. He had already attended in February 2024, in the first Superclasico of his administration, which ended 1-1 and in which he left a strong refereeing complaint for a play involving Andrés Herrera and Kevin Zenón

Usually, the sports director Marcelo Delgado accompanies the squad, so Riquelme's presence acquires an additional symbolic value in the preview of one of the most important games in

Argentine football.

For his part, in the run-up to the match, Riquelme left a conciliatory message during a conference organized by the Professional League: “Just that people enjoy it a lot. You're going to see good players on both sides. Hopefully we are lucky enough to enjoy a lot. It's seen all over the world, that makes it the most important classic in the world and let's hope it's a party. It's football, that whoever plays best wins and that we can all help

.”

The duel between the Millionaire and Xeneize will start at 17 this Sunday the 19th and can be seen on ESPN Premium and TNT Sports Premium.
