“Ángel was killed.” With that phrase, full of pain and anger, the father of the 4-year-old boy who died in Comodoro Rivadavia summarized his demand for justice in the midst of the wake of his son, who died Monday night while under the care of his mother. In a context of deep shock, the man was heartbroken and harshly questioned what happened: “My son was not a sick boy, he was in good health, he was healthy, what are they going to tell me?” , he said, pointing directly at the child's mother
.The Chubut Justice is investigating the circumstances of the death, which occurred after a cardiorespiratory arrest whose cause has not yet been determined. The child was under the custody of his mother at the time of the incident, as part of a judicially ordered reconnection process, a decision that today is severely questioned by the parental environment. The scene at the funeral was heartbreaking. Family and close friends surrounded the father, Luis, trying to contain him. Around 14:40, with the arrival of the heave, he himself led the transfer of the drawer with the remains of
his son. Already at the cemetery, after a collective applause, both the father and his partner, Lorena Andrade, took the floor. “We did everything. They never listened to Ángel. That's why he's now without the baby,” she said, pointing directly to the authorities. The father, for his part, reported that he had presented evidence of the alleged abuse:
“Let them come and tell me in front of me how they told me when I showed them the video of the boy crying saying that he wanted to come with me. 'That doesn't matter to me', he told me, and threw me like a CV in the garbage. They disrespected me, they abused power against me and they never gave me a damn.”
In the midst of the pain, the father also reported unequal treatment by the authorities:
“My son always asked for me and they never did anything. Everyone treated me as sexist, and if it had been the other way around, I was already in prison.” The phrase points directly to the gender criterion applied in the case, which would have influenced the decision to grant custody to the mother. In addition, he questioned an action taken by the woman after the death of the child:
“When they confirmed the death to my son, she was already submitting a paper so that she would not be arrested. But what more proof do they want. My son was healthy.”
