President Javier Milei held a meeting this Sunday with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, as part of his new official visit to the country and the strengthening of bilateral relations, in the midst of the conflict in the Middle East. The Argentine president was warmly received in Jerusalem by the
Israeli leader.
During the meeting, Netanyahu publicly highlighted the relationship between the two countries and defined Milei as a “great friend of the State of Israel”, stressing that the bilateral link is at one of its strongest points. The images released by the Prime Minister himself showed a climate of trust between the two leaders, with an effusive greeting that began
with an embrace.
Milei arrived in Tel Aviv early this Sunday morning and, as the first step in her official schedule, visited the Western Wall, one of the holiest sites in Judaism.
The scale has a strong symbolic component in national foreign policy, since the beginning of his administration Javier sought to strengthen ties with Israel both diplomatically and culturally.
The President's agenda will continue throughout the day with a series of key activities. Among them, announcements are expected linked to the maiden flight of the Israeli airline El Al to Buenos Aires, as well as the signing of bilateral agreements aimed at deepening cooperation between the
two countries in different areas. Javier Milei with the Argentine ambassador to Israel at the Western Wall.
One of the central moments of the trip will be your participation in the 78th Israeli Independence Day ceremony. Milei was invited to light one of the torches on Mount Herzl, a gesture of high political and symbolic value that reflects the level of alignment achieved between his government and the
Israeli administration.
The trip takes place in a complex international context, with the war in the Middle East still unfolding.
In this context, and with the precedent of the attack on AMIA as one of the most serious episodes of terrorism in Argentina, the president's presence in Israel and his meeting with Netanyahu consolidate a clear sign of position in foreign policy and commitment to justice.
The Government's strategy aims to strengthen alliances with Western countries and reposition Argentina on the international stage, both because of its political and economic affinity and because of its global weight. In that scheme, Israel occupies a central place, and the personal relationship between Milei and Netanyahu appears as one of the pillars of that bond
