The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed a ten-day truce with Lebanon. However, he made it clear that any definitive agreement will depend on the dismantling of Hezbollah.

“We have the opportunity to achieve a historic agreement,” said the president. But he stressed that the main condition is to eliminate the threat of the Iranian-backed group

Israel maintains military pressure in southern Lebanon

Netanyahu was forceful. He assured that Israel will not withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon

.

The plan envisages keeping a large security zone under military control. This strip will extend to the border with Syria

.

The goal is to prevent Hezbollah from reorganizing. It also seeks to prevent new attacks against northern Israel.

The truce, a step towards negotiations

The ceasefire will begin at 21:00 GMT. It seeks to pave the way for direct talks between Israel and Lebanon.

However, the situation remains fragile. Netanyahu confirmed that military operations will continue during the negotiations

Trump's support and pressure on Iran

Netanyahu highlighted coordination with Donald Trump. As he indicated, Washington maintains a firm position vis-a-vis Iran.

“President Trump is determined to continue the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.

He also underscored the United States' commitment to dismantling Iranian nuclear capabilities.

Rejection of Hezbollah and regional tension

For its part, Hezbollah rejected Israel's conditions. The group insists that it has the right to resist as long as there is a foreign military presence.

The Lebanese government took a more cautious stance. He valued the cessation of hostilities, although without fully endorsing Hezbollah's strategy

A conflict that redefines the Middle East

The Israeli offensive began on March 2 after attacks by Hezbollah in support of Iran. Since then, the region has experienced a constant escalation.

Thousands of civilians were displaced. The humanitarian crisis in southern Lebanon remains critical.

The truce agreement opens a window of opportunity. But the outcome will depend on one central point: the future of Hezbollah

in the region.
