The government of Vladimir Putin made it clear on Thursday that the conflict involving the Iranian regime is not part of its war and that Russia's priority will be to protect its own interests.
“The current war is not our war,” Peskov said, referring to the situation in the Middle East, despite his alliance with Iran.

The presidential spokesman explained that the Kremlin has already defined its position since the beginning of the conflict and that, in the current scenario, Moscow must focus on minimizing the economic impact of global tensions. In that regard, he stressed that the country will act by prioritizing
its own interests.“We must do what is in our best interest and reduce the impact that international upheavals may have on our economy,” said Peskov, who acknowledged that this position may seem “cynical”, but it responds to the need to protect Russia's internal stability.
