Within the framework of an agenda aimed at promoting the development of nuclear energy in Latin America and the Caribbean, Argentina was part of the second edition of the SMR School organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which took place in Asunción, Paraguay.
The event brought together representatives from different countries in the region with the objective of exchanging experiences and strengthening capacities around small modular reactors (SMR).
The event continued the first edition held in Argentine territory and was attended by representatives of international organizations, government authorities and representatives of the regional nuclear sector.
During the meeting, central aspects such as project planning, regulatory frameworks, financing and the necessary preparation for the future operation of this type of technology were addressed.
The event was opened by the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, who spoke by videoconference and emphasized the value of international cooperation to ensure the safe development of SMR, a key technology for the energy future.
