Two attackers blew themselves up in Blida and left several injured in an act of Islamic terrorism.

According to local authorities, two Islamic terrorists blew themselves up in the vicinity of an area of Algeria frequented by Pope Leo XIV, causing several injuries and a strong deployment of security forces.

The event occurred during the first day of the papal visit, an event considered historic by the Algerian government itself, which seeks to strengthen its international image and promote interreligious dialogue. The explosion generated scenes of panic among those present and forced an immediate reinforcement of security operations in and around the capital

Although so far there has been no official claim to the attack, the authorities accuse Islamic terrorist groups operating in the North African region. Algeria has in the past faced episodes of violence linked to terrorist organizations, although in recent years it had achieved some stability in terms of security

.

The attack is a clear sign that extremist Islamic groups refuse to accept the existence of other religions and seek to erase them through a holy war. Jihad in this region seems to have normalized, with multiple attacks and attacks against Christian communities in

Africa every week.

The government condemned the attack and assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the protection of the population and foreign delegations present in the country. In that regard, official sources indicated that Pope Leo XIV's agenda will continue, albeit under strict security protocols

For its part, the Vatican expressed concern about what happened, while reiterating the message of peace and coexistence that motivates the pontiff's tour of Africa. The visit includes meetings with religious and political leaders, in a context in which the continent is gaining increasing relevance within the Catholic Church

.

The attack in Blida once again highlights the increase of Islamic extremism in the region and the increasing normalization of terrorism in the area. While the pope sought to convey a message of unity between religions, this fact exposes an opposing scenario, in which radicalized sectors try to impose their vision

through violence.
