In recent days, a website called “The Villavicencio Telephone” generated controversy and concern. The thing is that it claims to contain alleged leaked chats of the late former presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio. According to reports, this platform not only spreads questionable information, but it also steals personal data from those who access it.
Initially, it was stated that the page could have been created by students from the Central University of Ecuador. However, preliminary investigations have denied this version, pointing out that the site was developed in Iceland by a company linked
to international hackers.
The former president would have ordered the creation of the page as part of a strategy to discredit the late Villavicencio and his political
legacy.Cybersecurity experts warn that, when accessing the site, users run the risk of compromising the security of their devices, exposing sensitive information such as passwords, bank details and personal files.
