Faced with threats from Iran and the rise in oil prices, Trump announced naval assistance for the militarily besieged maritime passage.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Tuesday on his Truth Social platform that the US military will help ships to transit through the maritime passage known as the Strait of Hormuz, currently besieged by the Iranian terrorist regime while the war in the Middle East continues.

Thus, Trump offered the possibility of naval assistance and asked the United States Development Finance Corporation to provide risk insurance that would guarantee the financial security of maritime commerce operating near the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

“If necessary, the United States Navy will begin to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as possible,” Trump said, as the war in Iran approaches a week and the Republican leader has already declared that the military campaign could last weeks.

Iran and its tactic to break up the world economy

The Iranian military branch, called the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warned that any ship traveling through the 100-mile-long sea crossing would be attacked and would be met with lethal force. This measure corresponds to a last attempt by the Islamic regime to try to reverse or stop the campaign against it, using the control of this route as a tool of pressure

.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key point for oil transit between Oman and Iran. In 2022, 21 million barrels of oil were transported per day across the strait, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration

.

“The strait is closed, and whoever wants to cross, our heroes in the IRGC navy and the army will set fire to those ships,” said Ebrahim Jabari, senior advisor to the commander in chief of the Revolutionary Guard and one of the few military figures in the regime who is still alive after the attacks of the Anglo-Israeli coalition killed 48 figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

After the U.S. military attacked Iran on February 28, maritime traffic in the strait fell by 70%, according to MarineTraffic, a ship-tracking service. As oil tankers became stranded in the Persian Gulf, gasoline prices rose an average of 11 cents on Tuesday in the United States, according to the AAA car club
