In the midst of growing global concern about the advance of drug trafficking and its articulation with international terrorist networks, the United States government publicly highlighted the joint action it has been carrying out with the Argentina to combat this transnational phenomenon.
The recognition was given this Friday through an official publication on social networks by the Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), under the North American Department of State, which detailed the results of the operations carried out in Argentine territory during 2025 in coordination with the DEA.“In 2025 alone, anti-drug trafficking units supported by the INL and the DEA in Argentina confiscated more than 1260 kg of cocaine and thousands of doses of synthetic drugs, in addition to arresting 35 drug traffickers. Cooperation keeps deadly drugs off American streets,” the US agency said in its publication. The data released, accompanied by graphic material, indicate that in addition to the 1,260 kilos of cocaine seized, 12,900 MDMA pills, 1,257 cartons of LSD and 250 grams of amphetamines were seized. The operation also allowed the arrest of 35 drug traffickers, consolidating concrete progress in the fight against these
criminal networks.
The program, supported by leaders from twelve countries, aims to confront drug cartels linked both to terrorism promoted by Iran and to China's growing economic and strategic influence in the region. The alliance constitutes an unprecedented scheme that combines diplomatic tools with a military agreement signed between the Pentagon and twenty countries of the continent, configuring an architecture of cooperation
unprecedented in the Western Hemisphere. In this framework, Washington seeks to dismantle an expanding phenomenon: the connection between Latin American cartels and the covert cells of the terrorist group Hezbollah, which operate in the region under the orbit of Tehran. “The heart of our agreement is a commitment to use lethal military force to destroy sinister terrorist cartels and networks once and for all,” Donald Trump exclaimed during the official launch of the initiative
