Abascal doubles down and demands that Pedro Sánchez go to jail

After the imprisonment of the former Organization Secretary of the PSOE, VOX's leader is calling for the communist Sánchez to follow in his footsteps

Vox leader, Santiago Abascal, demanded on Monday accountability beyond the provisional imprisonment of former PSOE Organization Secretary, Santos Cerdán, in the context of a commission payment scheme linked to the awarding of public works contracts.

The Supreme Court ordered Cerdán's provisional imprisonment, incommunicado and without bail, charging him with criminal organization, bribery, and influence peddling.

During his appearance before the judge, Cerdán denied any involvement in the scheme, including irregularities in public works contracts, the collection of illegal commissions, and the PSOE's irregular financing through covert payments. However, the court considered that there was a risk of destruction of evidence and flight, and ordered his immediate imprisonment.

Santiago Abascal reacted strongly to the news and directly pointed to the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, as the true person responsible for this corrupt network. "One is not enough. The one is missing," he wrote on his official account on the social network X, in a clear allusion to Sánchez. He also added a forceful "Everyone to jail!" as a political and judicial demand.

For Vox, Cerdán is not an isolated actor, but a key piece within an alleged structure organized and directed from the communist leadership of the PSOE. Abascal has reiterated that his party will continue to press for an investigation and prosecution of "all those involved, without exceptions or privileges."

The accusation against Cerdán has triggered a political earthquake that could have significant consequences for the Government. From the opposition, total transparency is being demanded and calls for the resignation of senior officials are already being made. The PSOE, meanwhile, has maintained institutional silence so far, pending an official assessment.
