Adorni highlighted the decrease in inflation, the decline in child poverty, and record investments in his first press conference as Chief of Staff

In his first press conference as Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni presented an overview of the economic and social situation which, according to him, confirms the course chosen by the Government. The most notable data was the 17-point drop in child poverty in one year, according to a UNICEF Argentina report, with a decrease from 48% to 31%.

Adorni emphasized that this progress was not achieved through traditional populist mechanisms, but rather through a change in approach: "It wasn't with the money-printing machine, nor with abusive price controls, nor with political operatives distributing welfare plans," he stated. He attributed the improvement to lower inflation—currently around 2% per month—and to direct assistance without intermediaries via AUH and Tarjeta Alimentar.

He also highlighted that in households with children, access to basic services improved and the number of families unable to see a doctor due to lack of resources dropped by 8%.

Inflation: The lowest levels since 2018

Adorni reviewed the evolution of prices to underscore the slowdown: "After 18 consecutive months of deceleration, year-on-year inflation stands at 31.3%, the lowest value since July 2018."

He recalled that in December 2023—the month the government took office—inflation had been 25.5% in a single month. In contrast, this year the accumulated rate is just 24.8%, "the lowest figure since 2017."

The message was direct: "It's been proven that we were right: inflation was strictly a monetary issue."

Political consensus and warnings to union leaders

The Chief of Staff highlighted a series of meetings with governors from all parties, aimed at advancing the 2026 Budget, tax reform, labor modernization, and the new Penal Code.

However, he criticized a union leader who called a strike without knowing the content of the reforms: "Good luck with that," he said ironically, stressing that labor modernization doesn't modify the Public Employment Law.

He called for responsibility in the dissemination of information and stated: "Until we communicate it ourselves, consider everything false or inaccurate."

Agreement with the United States and record investments

Adorni announced that "the long-awaited framework" of the trade agreement with the U.S. has been reached, which includes tariff reductions, strengthening of standards, and greater protection of intellectual property.

He acknowledged the work of Economy, Foreign Affairs and Deregulation, as well as Guillermo Francos and Gerardo Werthein, emphasizing that the achievement comes after seven months of negotiations.

He then listed signs of business confidence:
– Pampa Energía announced a USD 450 million investment.
– Vista Energy confirmed USD 4.5 billion for Vaca Muerta.
– YPF reached 200,000 barrels per day of shale oil, an 82% increase in two years.
– Country Risk fell from over 1,000 to 600 points after electoral volatility.

"Today we do have the conditions to take off"

In closing, Adorni stated that on December 10 the "second stage" of the government will begin and that in the first two years the pillars of the model were consolidated: "Order and freedom. Order in public accounts, in the streets, and in foreign policy. Freedom to produce, to undertake, and to grow."

He stressed that today Argentina not only has natural resources, but also "a capitalist government and a society that supports it," something that—he said—hasn't happened in a century.
