The rise in overseas shopping intensified in recent months following the Government's decision to ease the import regime. Among the most significant changes, the purchase limit via courier was raised from USD 1,000 to USD 3,000 per shipment, in addition to establishing a USD 400 duty-free allowance.

In response to this trend, Aerolíneas Argentinas relaunched its courier service with a new scheme that allows consumers to consolidate multiple purchases in Miami and receive them directly at their home in Argentina.

Growth of the courier service

Courier operations grew by more than 100% in the last year. According to the Argentine Chamber of International Aeroexpress Service Providers (Capsia), the volume transported in January 2025 rose by 105.85% compared to January of the previous year and by 20.22% compared to December 2024. This growth is driven by:

  • Cost reduction and elimination of taxes.
  • Increased demand for technological products, clothing, and spare parts.
  • Facilitation of international shipments.

How the service works

The Aerolíneas Argentinas Courier service allows grouping purchases at an address in Miami and receiving them in any Argentine city. The process consists of:

  1. Registration: Creating an account on the platform.
  2. Obtaining an address in Miami: A postal address in the U.S. is assigned.
  3. Shopping at online stores: Purchases are made on Amazon, eBay, among others.
  4. Consolidation of shipments: Packages can be accumulated for up to 30 days at no additional cost.
  5. Shipping to Argentina: The service cost is paid, which includes transportation and customs procedures.
  6. Home delivery: The package arrives without the need for additional procedures.

Benefits of the new system

The service optimizes the limit of shipments allowed per year, as it allows consolidating several purchases into a single shipment. Additionally, Aerolíneas Argentinas offers:

  • Two daily flights from Miami, speeding up deliveries.
  • Direct distribution network to the home.
  • Better logistics and grouping for greater efficiency.

Growth of foreign trade

Foreign trade doubled in recent months, with Amazon and Mercado Libre leading the growth. According to Gabriel Salomón, a specialist in Foreign Trade, the volume of daily packages at Ezeiza went from 4,000 to 10,000, with higher demand peaks.

The Government eliminated taxes and restrictions that made international purchases more expensive, including:

  • Elimination of the PAIS Tax.
  • Reduction of tariffs and customs controls.
  • Suppression of reference values and technical regulations.

New distribution center in Ezeiza

To meet the demand, Aeropuertos Argentina announced the construction of an exclusive building for courier shipments in Ezeiza. With an investment of USD 6 million, it is expected to improve infrastructure and speed up delivery times.

Costs and delivery times

The shipping cost varies according to weight, destination, and purchase value. Users can simulate costs on the Aerolíneas Argentinas Courier page. The company has double daily frequency on the Miami-Buenos Aires route, allowing for fast deliveries.

Restrictions and conditions of use

  • Maximum weight: 110 pounds (50 kilos) per package.
  • Maximum value: USD 3,000 per shipment.
  • Limit of identical products: No more than three units of the same item.
  • Annual limit: Five shipments per user.

This new scheme seeks to align the Argentine system with international standards, facilitating access to imported products.
