The AFA made a request to River Plate for the club not to charge the rental fee for the Monumental stadium for Lionel Messi's farewell match with the Argentine National Team, scheduled for October 6.
The request was made by Claudio Tapia during the last meeting of the Executive Committee of the Argentine Football Association, in which River participated again after several sessions of absence. The recipient of the request was Ignacio Villarroel, the second vice president of the institution, who was tasked with conveying the proposal to the club's authorities.
What AFA asked River regarding the Monumental
The initiative consists of River not charging the corresponding rental fee for the stadium for the national team match and that this amount be donated to a charitable organization.
The proposal was recorded in the official summary of the meeting published by the Professional League. It notes that Tapia asked Villarroel to convey to River's management the possibility of waiving the rental fee due to the international impact the event will have.
