After being eliminated from the Copa Argentina, Boca has its first confirmed departure.
With a few minutes after his return to the club and being out of Russo's consideration, the player decided to terminate his contract
After Boca's elimination from the Copa Argentina against Atlético Tucumán, the club began to make moves in the transfer market. In the early hours of Thursday, the first departure was confirmed: Esteban Rolón will terminate his contract with the institution.

The information was reported by journalist Emiliano Raddi, who explained that the midfielder decided to leave due to the lack of opportunities in the team managed by Miguel Ángel Russo. His contract with Xeneize was set to expire in December 2026, but since he was not considered by the coach, he chose to leave as a free agent to seek a new destination at the close of the transfer window.
Rolón had arrived at Boca in mid-2021, coming from Huracán and also with Russo as coach. In August 2023, he was loaned to Belgrano for 18 months, but at the beginning of 2025, he returned to the club, where he only played minutes in a summer friendly under the brief tenure of Fernando Gago. Since then, he had been training separately and without real chances of getting playing time.

The other "excluded" players by Russo
Rolón's case is not the only one in Boca's current squad. There are other players who are also not in Russo's plans and have not yet solved their contractual situation. These are Sergio Romero, Cristian Lema, and Marcos Rojo, who are not being drafted, although for now the club has not moved forward with a contract termination.

Lema, in fact, reportedly submitted a proposal to terminate his contract, but it was rejected by the management. In the cases of Romero and Rojo, although there have been some inquiries, there have not yet been formal negotiations with other clubs.
Rolón's time at Boca
During his time at the club, Esteban Rolón played 36 matches and was part of the squad that won three domestic titles: the 2021 Copa Argentina, the 2022 Copa de la Liga, and the 2022 Liga Profesional. His departure marks the first official move in a transfer window that promises more news in the coming hours.
