The world of motorcycle racing is in shock after the serious accident suffered by Noah Dettwiler during the warm-up lap of the Malaysian Grand Prix of Moto3, held at the Sepang circuit. The 20-year-old Swiss rider, a member of the CIP Green Power team, was struck at high speed by José Antonio Rueda, who was unable to avoid him as he was moving slowly due to a possible mechanical failure in turn 3.
The impact left Dettwiler unconscious and with extremely severe injuries. He was assisted on site by the medical team, stabilized, and intubated before being airlifted to the hospital in Kuala Lumpur, where he underwent multiple emergency surgeries. His father, Andy Dettwiler, confirmed that the young man suffered several cardiac arrests during the initial care, but he was successfully resuscitated.
"Noah has undergone several surgeries… his condition is stable, but critical," states the statement released by the family and the team, also signed by former rider Tom Lüthi, who is close to the family. On social media, they thanked the fans for their support and asked for respect and privacy while his recovery continues.
