Air Europa has added a new frequency to its Córdoba-Madrid route

The airline's decision confirms the consolidation of the province as an air hub

Governor Martín Llaryora held a meeting with Jesús Nuño de la Rosa, CEO of Air Europa, which as of this Wednesday operates four weekly flights connecting Córdoba with Madrid.

This way, Air Europa increases from three to four the frequencies with which it connects Córdoba with Europe through Madrid-Barajas Airport, strengthening a route that has operated directly since the summer of 2023 and has become one of its most active destinations in Latin America.

Thanks to this, the offer will increase this year to over 115,000 seats, which represents almost 18% more than in the previous period.

At the same time, the airline's decision confirms Córdoba's positioning as an air hub and highlights the strategic and logistical importance of the province at the international level.

Nuño de la Rosa explained that "this is the fourth weekly Air Europa flight with Córdoba, which covers the Madrid-Córdoba route, which is not only Madrid-Córdoba, it's Argentina, Spain, Europe, even the Middle East and Asia."

Córdoba-Madrid flight frequencies increase

The CEO emphasized that "the occupancy rate is going very well, we're surprised. We'll continue working to increase frequencies, increase cargo, and ensure that Córdoba and Madrid are increasingly connected through Europe."

"The governor and the Province are very willing to continue increasing connectivity between Argentina and Spain, in this case via Córdoba. Meanwhile, Córdoba will be a new hub for Argentina, and Madrid is a new hub not only for Spain, but also for Europe," he concluded.

Flights from Córdoba will depart for the Spanish capital every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, meeting the high demand recorded. In fact, only in the first four months of this year, there was a year-on-year increase of 7% in the number of passengers.

After transporting more than 88,000 people on this route in 2024, Air Europa expects a 20% increase in this figure, which would mean surpassing 106,000 passengers this year, reaching an occupancy rate above 91%.

Air Europa and its operation in Córdoba

The company began its operations with Córdoba in December 2016, providing the service, until mid-2023, in triangulation with Asunción.

Since then, Air Europa has facilitated with three weekly flights the direct travel of Córdoba residents to the Spanish capital from where it guarantees a comfortable and fast connection with the rest of the airline's European destinations.

Through the connection with Madrid, it is possible to connect with more than thirty destinations on the European continent, as well as expand the reach to the Middle East and Asia, in addition to the Mediterranean arc, such as the Maghreb, Israel, and Türkiye, where Air Europa has been flying since May 12.
