The Minister of National Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, participated yesterday in the lunch cycle of the Córdoba Stock Exchange to present to business leaders about public order policies and crime indicators. During her presentation, the official highlighted the decrease in homicides at the national level, reaffirmed the coordinated work with the provincial administration, and explained the economic impact of organized crime. She also presented the guidelines for the security operation projected for the visit of Pope Leon XIV to the capital city in November.
The institutional meeting was attended by Manuel Tagle, president of the Stock Exchange, and economist Guido Sandleris at the main table. The Minister of Security of Córdoba, Juan Pablo Quinteros, and the head of the La Libertad Avanza bloc of deputies, Gabriel Bornoroni, also attended the event. During the activity, the officials reviewed the existing inter-jurisdictional cooperation schemes between federal forces and local control agencies for addressing complex crimes in the region.
Regarding official statistics, the official detailed the evolution of crime and indicated that in 2016 there were 2,600 intentional homicides, while in 2025 the figure dropped to 1,600 cases nationwide. According to the minister's presentation, criminal organizations generate a cost equivalent to 3.4% of the Gross Domestic Product, distorting the development of private activity. During her speech, the head of the national portfolio emphasized that the implementation of the accusatory system allows for direct results on crime rates.

Regarding public demonstrations and the actions of the forces, Alejandra Monteoliva defended the actions of security personnel and questioned the episodes of violence recorded during the marches: "I would like those who come with the mace and hammer to explain. Let those who steal, destroy, and spit explain. I have 200 officers out of action due to injuries. Let the violent explain someday." Regarding the initiative to lower the age of criminal responsibility to 14, she warned that in countries like Ecuador and Peru, criminal recruitment includes children aged between 8 and 10 years.
On the preparations for the arrival of Pope Leon XIV, the official confirmed that a Vatican delegation conducted technical surveys in the province a month and a half ago to coordinate the logistics of the event. Authorities inspected the facilities of Fadea, the Kempes Stadium, the Cathedral, Fecor, and the Archdiocese in case His Holiness requires a resting space during his one-day stay in Córdoba. The security plan includes the creation of three unified commands to coordinate the arrival of parishioners and buses from different provinces across the country.
Finally, the official noted that the strengthening of productive security encompasses concrete actions in the Vaca Muerta area, control of the bioceanic corridor, and tightening of border policy. The minister stated that daily communication with Minister Juan Pablo Quinteros consolidates the necessary institutional coordination to ensure public order. Coordination meetings between the Nation and the province will continue over the coming months to define the distribution of personnel in the assigned areas.
