Antisemitism grew significantly in Spain during 2025. According to the 2025 Antisemitism Report, prepared by the Antisemitism Observatory, 221 antisemitic incidents were recorded across the country, compared to 193 counted in 2024. This figure represents an increase of 14.51% in just one year.

The document was driven by the Antisemitism Observatory of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) and the Movement Against Intolerance, and warns of a concerning trend that again highlights the persistence of hatred against the Jewish community.

221 antisemitic incidents during 2025

The increase recorded over the last year represents 28 more incidents than in 2024, an evolution that the organizations responsible for the report describe as a warning sign.

The data reflect that antisemitism continues to be present in various areas of Spanish society and that the phenomenon cannot be considered a marginal problem. Expressions of hatred against Jews can manifest in different ways, from assaults and threats to acts of vandalism, harassment, and the dissemination of antisemitic messages.

The evolution is particularly concerning in an international context marked by the war in the Middle East and the significant increase in political and social tensions related to the conflict.

A trend that worries the Jewish community

The report indicates a rise in antisemitism in Spain, after the records increased from 193 cases in 2024 to 221 in 2025.

For the organizations monitoring this phenomenon, the importance of these figures goes beyond the absolute number of incidents. Each episode represents a manifestation of a prejudice that has historically had devastating consequences and continues to find spaces to reproduce.

The situation is also part of a broader concern in Europe, where different countries have recorded an increase in antisemitic expressions in recent years.

The danger of normalizing hatred

One of the main risks in the face of the growth of these episodes is that antisemitism becomes normalized as part of political or social debate. Criticism of any government or political decision is legitimate in a democratic society, but it should not transform into attacks against individuals because of their Jewish identity or the use of historical prejudices to promote hostility.

The distinction is particularly important in a context of strong international polarization, where discussions about Israel and the conflict in Gaza can become a vehicle for hate speech against Jewish communities that bear no individual responsibility for the decisions of any government.

A call to combat antisemitism

The increase of 14.51% in antisemitic incidents in Spain during 2025 constitutes a warning sign that should not be ignored. The 221 recorded cases show that there are still expressions of hatred that directly affect the Jewish community.

In the face of this reality, the challenge is to prevent discrimination from becoming commonplace and to strengthen institutional and social responses to any manifestation of antisemitism. Combating anti-Jewish hatred does not mean limiting freedom of expression or political debate: it means preventing prejudice and discrimination from being used as tools of confrontation.
