At a time of full consolidation in Liverpool, Alexis Mac Allister was faced with unexpected news. Although he continues to be an important piece of the team and still has a valid contract with the Reds, the Argentine midfielder acknowledged that it made him sad to know that the institution was not in a position to offer him a renewal for now.

Before the English team's debut in the Champions League against Atlético de Madrid, Mac Allister spoke about his present and admitted that the club's decision affected him. "I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which, of course, makes me very, very sad because I think everyone can see that I give 100% for this football club every day, in training and in matches", expressed the Argentine.

The midfielder, who came from Argentinos Juniors, assured that he celebrates the renewals of his teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, although he recognized that the situation also awakened a different feeling in him. "I see Dominik and Ryan renewing their contracts and that makes me very happy because they deserve it, but at the same time it makes me a little sad that I haven't received mine", he stated.

Nonetheless, Mac Allister sought to reassure and made it clear that his intention is not to leave Anfield. Although there are different references regarding the exact duration of his contract, the Argentine has a contract with Liverpool for the coming seasons and, for now, does not plan to force a departure. "Of course, there is still time. I think the fans don't have to worry because I will give my 100% until the last day I am here", he assured.

He even revealed that during the last transfer window he received options to change clubs, but he decided to continue in England. "There were options to leave this summer and I think right now I am at the right club and I have the right mentality to give my 100% for this club", he affirmed.

His stance is also related to the bond he has built with the institution. In his three seasons played with the English team, Mac Allister has become one of the regulars in midfield and was part of the team that won two domestic titles.

Therefore, despite the contractual uncertainty, he believes that his performance speaks for itself. "I don't have to prove anything, but I have to show the level at which I can perform", stated the world champion, who also highlighted the bond he maintains with Liverpool and his city.

"I love this club, I love being here, I love the fans and as a player sometimes it happens that you are at a club for a long, long time and you don't really realize where you are", he added. Far from imagining himself in another destination, the Argentine emphasized the significance of continuing at Anfield: "That doesn't happen to me. I realize that I am at an incredible club and this city is very special".

Mac Allister's numbers at Liverpool

Since his arrival in mid-2023, the native of Santa Rosa has played 11,144 minutes in the Reds' jersey, distributed over 153 matches, in which he scored 19 goals, provided 20 assists, and received 32 yellow cards and 1 red card. In terms of titles, he won 2: Carabao Cup 2024 and Premier League 2024/25.
