The former terrorist turned official and Kirchnerist candidate faces multiple criminal cases
With no background in the private sector and a career entirely sustained by the State, Jorge Taiana once again becomes a prominent figure within Kirchnerism. A former terrorist and current Kirchnerist candidate in Buenos Aires province, he carries on his shoulders a record filled with controversies, complaints, and accusations that the progressive political and media apparatus prefers to ignore.
Six pages of background and criminal record
Eduardo Feinmann en Radio Mitre.
On Radio Mitre, journalist Eduardo Feinmann attacked the candidate. With documents in hand, the host proceeded to review the large number of complaints faced by Jorge Taiana and other candidates.
"All members of the list have something pending in court. There are six pages of background and criminal record for Jorge Taiana alone," he declared, before reviewing the charges brought: abuse of authority, concealment, breach of public official duties, embezzlement of public funds, fraud against the public administration, and even diplomatic hostilities with the risk of a declaration of war.
In 2023, he was reported along with Victoria Tolosa Paz for alleged irregularities in contracts between the Socio-Urban Integration Fund (FISU) and the state-owned company Tandanor, which is under the Ministry of Defense. The accusation claims that public funds intended for social works were diverted to build bus stops, a task outside the shipyard's responsibilities.
From 1970s terrorism to political power
Taiana began his activism in the Descamisados group, a far-left terrorist organization that was part of the guerrilla network of the 1970s and later joined Montoneros, responsible for kidnappings, murders, and attacks throughout the country. The movement publicly claimed responsibility for the murder of union leader Augusto Vandor, leader of "Peronism without Perón," and several attacks against civilians, such as the one at the "El Ibérico" bar, where two people were killed and the candidate was involved.
According to his own testimony, Taiana was arrested in 1975 and remained imprisoned for much of the dictatorship. There are no judicial records of a formal conviction, although his membership in the terrorist organization is documented by himself and various historical sources.

With the arrival of Kirchnerism in power, Taiana went from ex-guerrilla to diplomat. He was appointed foreign minister by Néstor Kirchner and later defense minister under Alberto Fernández, another symbol of the political recycling of many terrorist figures from the 1970s within Kirchnerism.
VIP vaccination center: the privilege of the elite
During the "VIP vaccination center" scandal, Jorge Taiana's name returned to the headlines. He was among the first to benefit from the irregular administration of COVID-19 vaccines, in a scheme reserved for officials, associates, and journalists close to those in power.

The Federal Chamber ordered an investigation into his involvement in the case that prosecuted former health minister Ginés González García for abuse of authority and violation of public official duties. His inclusion on the list of privileged individuals was a scandal due to the discretionary use of State resources to benefit the Kirchnerist elite while millions of Argentines waited for their turn.
Complaints and ties to authoritarian regimes

His closeness to Nicolás Maduro's dictatorial regime, with whom he shared meetings and public praise, places him among the most accommodating leaders toward Chavismo, which is now internationally accused of human rights violations and drug trafficking. Taiana has repeatedly defended the Venezuelan government in international forums, refusing to condemn the crimes of the Bolivarian regime.
A symbol of the most outdated Kirchnerism
Taiana y Cristina Kirchner, condenada por corrupción.
Jorge Taiana embodies the paradigm of the eternal Kirchnerist official: with no experience in the private sector, sustained by the state apparatus, and protected by political impunity. From the Montonero guerrilla to the VIP vaccination center, through the defense of Chavismo and the accumulation of public positions, his career summarizes half a century of Peronist decline.
Today, Kirchnerism once again presents him as a candidate, showing that in its ideological universe, a violent past and political privilege are not obstacles, but credentials of belonging.
