Google officially launched Android 17, the new version of its operating system for mobile phones, along with Wear OS 7, the update aimed at smartwatches. As usual, the new features debut first on the company's Pixel devices.
The update comes with a new Pixel Drop, which incorporates tools based on artificial intelligence, productivity enhancements, security features, and new customization options for both phones and smartwatches.

The new version of the operating system reinforces Google's strategy to make Gemini the central axis of the Android experience.
Among the most notable new features is the integration of new artificial intelligence models such as Gemini Omni, Lyria 3, and AudioLM.
Gemini Omni now allows users to edit videos directly from a conversation within the app. Meanwhile, Lyria 3 offers the ability to create music tracks using text or images as a starting point.

Google also strengthened protection tools for users and families. Android 17 incorporates the "Mark as Lost" feature within Find Hub, new real-time threat detection tools, and improvements in security risk defense systems.
